The Inspector-General of Police, Ag.IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, NPM, mni on July 25, 2016 paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai at the Army Headquarters, Abuja.

At the Army Headquarters, Ag.IGP Ibrahim K. Idris appreciated the Chief of Army Staff for the maximum cooperation accorded the Nigeria Police Force. He emphasized the need for a stronger synergy between the agencies to curb the security challenges bedevilling the country. He also stressed that his visit serves as a forum for collaboration to dialogue between the agencies and work with a view to addressing critical issues such as kidnapping, insurgency and terrorism in the country.

The IGP further stated that he was impressed with the progress made so far in counter insurgency operations in the North-East when he visited Borno State recently.  He said the Police will take over liberated areas to facilitate civil authority.

In his response, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai congratulated the IGP on his appointment and said that the visit was timely as both agencies have historical link. He stressed that he would sustain the existing cooperation with the Nigeria Police and reiterated the need for the two services to work together in joint operations to address the various security challenges in the country.

The Chief of Army Staff also commended the Police for their roles in the fight against insurgency. He said that the Army are performing excellently in the fight against insurgents. He highlighted the successes made so far in the war against terror and promised to pay the IGP a courtesy call in due course.
